| Rockers
is the name of Roots Reggae during the later
1970's. And Rockers is the name of the man
who invented the "far east" sound:
Horace Swaby a.k.a. Augustus Pablo.
Every lover of DUB music knows this far
east sound. It's the sound of a melodica
swimming in echo's on top of drum and bass
lines. A sound which is often re-created in
contemporary DUB.
Not too many people know the other
talents of Augustus Pablo, although none of
them are less important that his creations
with the melodica.
Ever since he recorded his first tune (Iggy,
Iggy, in 1971) for Randy's in Jamaica,
Augustus Pablo has been blessing us with his
versatility in music creation.
This true DUB REGGAE CLASSIC proofs it.
No serious and self-respecting collector of
Jamaican Music can exist without having a
copy of Rockers Meets King Tubby's in a Fire
House.
When Rockers meets King Tubby's, you'll
have the best of DUB in one. When this
meeting then takes place in a Fire House,
you know it will get hot.
And this album really is hot.
It features Augustus Pablo in his many
facets. Not only the melodica. In fact,
there's only a very little bit melodica on
the album.
Those who expect an album full with
melodica, will therefore be dissapointed.
But then, they would limit their perception
of August Pablo's wide scale of talents.
Augustus Pablo knows how to play
keyboard, he knows how to mix DUB as well.
Together with Prince Jammy and King Tubby,
he mixed this album into the top of DUB.
Because this is one of the best Augustus
Pablo albums. It deserves a place in the top
20 of most important DUB albums of all
times. Simply because the tracks are crucial
without one exception.
Want some crucial ROCKERS? Some solid
DUB, and even some bonus tracks? What are
you waiting for...
