MICHAEL PROPHET - CEASE AND SETTLE
Ever since he was discovered by Yabby You, in the 1970's, Michael Prophet (Michael George Haynes, 1952) has gone strong as a vocalist with a very wide reach.

Singing Conscious lyrics over Roots Music for Yabby You therefore was only the beginning of his carrier. Michael Prophet went on to sing for a number of other producers, which he keeps doing until this day (February 2007).

His voice has been recorded on Roots Rockers, Rub a Dub, Dancehall and other contemporary forms.

Almost every riddim that he ever rode, was made into some ear candy of the finest sort just because of that. He sings Lovers tunes and Conscious lyrics, seemingly without any problem.

This album could be seen as the proof for that statement. The music on CEASE AND SETTLE is traditional Rub a Dub, albeit not of the early kind. And definitely not of the kind that would appeal to the lovers of a more Rootical form of Reggae Music.

Michael Prophet's singing, though, could even make them move and groove on this one, too!

Nice thing is, that you get 20 titles on the CD. And that is especially nice, since the quality of the music on the disc kind of varies and definitely is not the best selection.

But tracks like "Change your Ways" and "Conquer The Dragon", to name just two, are reasons to want to have it still.
